Chennai Corporation has announced that parking will be free at over 170 locations, including Marina Beach and Besant Nagar Beach, following the cancellation of a parking contract with a private firm. The firm faced allegations of overcharging, with reports of up to ₹300 being collected, leading to legal action and contract termination. Until a new tender is issued, the Corporation advises motorists to use parking facilities freely and report any unauthorized fee collection to the police.
